But alas, it seems like every seat is taken. Your eyes wander, observing the vast array of individuals occupying the seats. There's the businesswoman in her power suit, diligently typing away on her laptop. The elderly gentleman, engrossed in the crossword puzzle, muttering answers under his breath. And the young couple, giggling as they exchange whispered secrets.

Finally, you spot a vacant seat nestled between two individuals. You make your way towards it, feeling a mix of relief and anticipation. But just as you are about to claim it, an elderly lady with a cane shuffles towards you. Your heart sinks as you realize that you must do the right thing and offer her the seat.

This is just one of the many scenarios that unfold in the daily life of a NYC commuter. While the subway can be a chaotic and frustrating experience, it also provides a stage for some unforgettable encounters. From the musician who serenades the passengers with his melodious tunes, to the comedian who turns a mundane ride into a stand-up comedy show, there is never a dull moment on the subway.

However, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. The diary also captures the raw and unfiltered emotions of commuters. The frustration of delayed trains, the relentless rush to catch a connecting line, and the occasional encounter with unfriendly fellow passengers can wear down even the most patient individuals.

But amidst the chaos, there is beauty to be found. The acts of kindness that restore our faith in humanity, the unexpected connections forged with strangers through shared experiences, and the touching moments that remind us that we are all in this together.

The diary entries provide a glimpse into the inner thoughts of a NYC commuter, from the mundane to the profound. It's a collection of observations, musings, and rants about life in the city that never sleeps. From discussions about the merits of pizza toppings to philosophical ponderings on the meaning of life, this diary covers it all.

The author shares their hilarious encounters with bizarre subway performers, their encounters with celebrities incognito, and the occasional encounter with the elusive subway rat. They recount the moments of triumph when they manage to secure a seat during rush hour, only to have it stolen by an unaware passenger at the next stop.

This diary serves as a reminder that even in the mundane routine of commuting, there is a wealth of stories waiting to be shared and appreciated. It invites readers to laugh, cry, and empathize with the rollercoaster of emotions experienced by commuters on a daily basis.

So, next time you find yourself on a crowded subway train, take a moment to soak in the lively atmosphere. Observe the characters around you, engage in small talk with your fellow passengers, and embrace the unexpected moments that make commuting in NYC a truly unique experience.

Is this seat taken? The answer is a resounding yes, but it's a seat that offers a front-row view to the fascinating tapestry of life taking place in the heart of the city.

As the doors close and the train pulls away, I stare out the window and my mind starts to wander. Often to just random sh*t I’ve seen on social media or in the news, or even from some of the stupid conversations that go on around me while I sit and ponder. Sometimes I get so caught up in my own thoughts that stuff goes on around me and I am clueless, until it hits me in the face, or sometimes in the back of the head. So be prepared folks, while some of what you read might be crude, a lot of it is pretty funny. Let us begin……
